THE HISTORY OF ALPINEMUSEUM
Omachi Alpine Museum was opend on November 1st, 1951. Falling into the disorder after the World War U, young people in Omachi City, being filled with hope of rebuilding the city, hungreed for cultual activities.They concentrated their intellectual energy on establishing a museum. Their constant enthusiasm and voluntary activities lead the citizens of Omachi to establish the Alpine Museum. On August 15th, 1957,Omachi Middle School was transferd to the hill and renewed as the museum. Therafter, Omachi Alpine Museum as it stands was opend on June 5th, 1982.


MAIN EXHIBITIONS

1F THE HALL,THE SPECIAL EXHIBITION ROOM / THE1ST EXHIBITION ROOM
There are various exhibitions of the paintings of mountains.
You can experience the replica of the cottage in 1940's.
You can see the display of various pickels.

Here you can see the progress in the way of mountain climbing from our old times to today's modern alpinism.

This division shows the history of climbing the Northern Japan Alps, and also introduces the foreign mountaineerings by the Japanese alpinists.







2F THE 2ND EXHIBITION ROOM / EXPERIENCE SECTION / OBSERVATION CAFE
Here we introduse the mammals, birds and insects living in the Northern Alps.The exhibition of serows and ptarmigans is especially intelligible.


We also introduce the nature at the mountain's foot depending upon the environment.


Let's try to tie ropes and carry backpacks on your back. Try to use altimater.
